Question: My vehicle alarm keeps going off. Will this fix that problem (it is the switch on the latch that is bad)? Do I have to buy anything else to fix this?Rocky S. / Jan 13, 2021
Hi Rocky, Aside from the latch there might be some other factors that could cause the alarm to go off. We highly recommend to have the vehicle diagnosed by a certified mechanic to check if there are other parts that need replacement.

Through my research, this is usually the cause of the issue. This part replacement fixed my alarm going off inadvertently. As a temporary fix until I was able to replace the part, I sprayed WD-40 on the attached alarm switch on the hood latch. What usually happens (due to its design of being at the front of the vehicle and partially exposed to weather) the alarm switch contacts get wet/corroded causing it to go off sporadically. WD-40 will temporarily remove the moisture. On my Highlander, it took 30 minutes to completely replace including removal of grill, etc.

This fixed my problem on my 2008 Toyota Highlander with the alarm going off randomly. It was the switch on the latch and the latch with the switch was all I had to replace. Thanks.

More than likely. It fixed the problem for me. Easy to replace. Tons of YouTube videos show how to replace it. Until you replace it you can unplug it at the latch switch.

This fixed the alarm problem with my 1997 Honda Accord. It was pretty easy to replace and replacing it was cheaper than trying to do a full diagnostic.

Question: i have a 2009 toyota highlander limited v6 will this fit? How do i know if my car was built in Japan or USA so i can tell if it will fit?Sean O. / Mar 09, 2022
Hi Sean, I'm glad to assist you. Check the VIN of the Highlander, if it starts with the letter J, it means your vehicle is a Japan-built model. If the first character of your VIN number is a NUMBER, it means the vehicle was made in the USA, Canada, or Mexico:

I wasn’t sure if mine was Japan or USA. Ordered it anyhow and it worked. Quick and easy installation.

Question: Will this work with my current theft detection that came preinstalled in the car?Anthony G. / Jul 20, 2021
Hi Tony, I'm glad to help you out. Yes, it will if the Toyota Highlander is a Japan-built model. But if the vehicle is US-built, this will not be compatible. I hope this helps, and if this hood latch matches your Highlander, you can click on the link below for direct ordering to take advantage of our ongoing sale and limited stocks.
