Question: Will idle sensor make my car hard to start and idle bad?A Shopper / Sep 25, 2020
Hi- To give you an overview, please read the details below. However, just a disclaimer, this should be a basis for your diagnostic repair. This is just providing you the basics details as of the question you asked. Most idle control valves come in the form of a motorized valve or motor that is mounted somewhere on the vehicle's intake manifold. The valve or motor is controlled by the engine control module, which will adjust the idle speed according to parameters such as engine temperature and electrical system load. When the idle control valve fails it can cause all sorts of issues with the vehicle, and in some cases may even render it undrivable. Usually a bad or failing idle control valve will produce a few symptoms that can alert the driver of a potential issue. 1. Irregular idle speed 2. Check Engine Light comes on 3. Engine stalling Usually a faulty idle control valve will produce symptoms noticeable enough that the driver will quickly become aware that there is an issue. If your vehicle is experiencing any of the symptoms above, or you suspect that your idle control valve may be having a problem, have the vehicle diagnosed by a professional technician to determine if the idle control valve needs replacement.

It is absolutely possible. If the IAC valve is stuck or non functional it is one place to look . But there are many thing that could cause what you describe. It could also be anything from bad / dirty injectors , bad plugs or coils , dirty fuel filter , vacuum leak . Remove the IAC valve . Have a person turn on the ignition while you watch the IAC . If it does not move in and out , it probably bad.

Yes, and changing the valve is an inexpensive to start with that for a process of elimination. Since is a long and wide list of posible “suspects” mine for instance was faulty gas pump.
