Question: Is this part what i need cause im having trouble cranking vehicle does part have same purpose as a ignition acuator?Rolando G. / Jun 10, 2020
Hello! This is different than an ignition actuator. Do any lights come on when you turn the key? Can you hear a click when you try and start the car? I would test the starter.

Question: When I put my key in and turn it nothing happens! Sometimes it says damaged key but only my lights and dash work when door opens and key is in but when turn NO LIGHTS NOTHING ????Brian D. / Feb 18, 2023
Hi Brian, I'm glad to assist you. There is a possibility the key is no longer programmed to your car, or that a faulty ignition lock cylinder is a problem. It is best to have your vehicle checked in real-time by a certified mechanic to avoid misdiagnosing the issue in your vehicle.

Look to see if the security light is on when the key is in "on" position. On our old caravan it was a small red led on right side of display. If its on it may be the keys chip is not being recognized by the sensor ring around the ignition switch. Try another key if possible, disconnect battery negative for 10 minutes and try again.

Question: I recently bought this part and I have not gotten it yet I'm wondering does it come with a key? Do I have to hire a locksmith to program it? What do you recommend is the proper way to deal with a lost key for a 2008 Dodge Caliber RT 4 doorRyan C. / Sep 06, 2021
Hi Ryan, I'm happy to assist you. This item doesn't include the key. It is usually the ignition lock cylinder that includes the key. We suggest that you hire a locksmith to help you get a new key. You can also reach out to your local dealership for help. For more maintenance parts, we have a sale on brake parts. Click this link to get one for your vehicle: https://www.carparts.com/search?q=brake I hope this helps. Thank you for shopping at Carparts.com!

This part will not help you with a lost key best way to do it is to get a hold of a dealer they can make you a new key way easier and is fairly cheap

This doesn't need a new key- it goes onto the back of the existing cylinder.

Question: Is this the Imoblizer part of the switch? Or SKIM module?Diamond P. / Jan 24, 2023
Hi Diamond, thank you for reaching out. No, it is not. This item is the ignition switch. The Sentry Key Immobiliser Module (SKIM) is a different part. Kindly call our parts team at 1-866-529-0412 and provide the complete vehicle information. We'll be more than glad to help you look for the correct part. Have a nice day.
