Hello! You would use self tapping screws meant to tap into plastic.

There are specific license plate mounting kits. You can find them at basic auto parts stores in the help section or the doorman section there a white or black plastic inserts that click into those squares and then screws the dig into the plastic to mount the plate to.

I used correctly sized deep thread large head sheet metal screws purchased from ACE Hardware. They cut nicely into the plastic bosses provided for mounting the plates. You can find them in ACE's little boxes labeled "license plate mounting parts" or something similar. Another option would be to drive in longer bolts from the back (maybe epoxy them in place) then attach the plate with nuts. Problem there is that you can't hold the head of the bolt with the holder installed on the vehicle.
