They do come w/brackets which are specific to each side of the vehicle (mirror images). The brackets are not attached, so if you want to try and match to removeable style supports like I planned, you have that option. The ones I experimented with would not fit into cavity; and, besides, they looked wimpy compared to these. Since I was removing the factory originals, I can say that the two red washers both fit under the brackets attached to the body, not the liftgate. Take hinge covers off first. Note that the FX45 has two bracket cover fasteners on each side. Loosen all the way around then slide down towards opening. Sorry, my photos were too large to send. Warehouse can be a little slow getting item to Fedex.

The parts arrived on time, they were packaged appropriately and in great condition. I am a 65 year old savvy woman and I changed out these liftgate supports myself today. (I am very comfortable with hand tools) I cannot believe how well they raise the tailgate so smoothly and effortlessly. Don't know why I waited so long to change these out. My old ones had ME doing all the lifting! So glad I finally did it.

My liftgate works like a charm now. Not only do they hold up the liftgate, they lift the gate "automatically" once the latch is released. I had forgotten all about the nearly hands-free lifting and didn't realize how much I missed it! I had read some reviews that the liftgate was difficult to close with these struts installed, but I didn't experience that problem at all. Yes, some pressure is required now to close the gate, but that's to be expected. I'm very happy with these struts.
