Lexus wanted over $400 to replace the Lift gate shocks again on my old 1999 RX300. They had done this before, under warranty, and changed the position for some reason. I bought them here at Carparts for $15 and installed them myself. It was easy, but you do need to have a helper for support of the lift gate while installing. The replacement shock are more powerful than the original. They lift with more force for sure. Pulling the lift gate down is a little harder, but that is ok by me. Worth the savings, and well, the car is OLD! I have a feeling in time they will soften up a bit.

Hi Arvin, I'm glad to assist you. Some strut assemblies have a manual release mechanism to allow for easier installation. It could be a button, lever, or clip that needs to be activated before mounting the strut. Consult the owner's manual of your vehicle for specific steps to do. If you have tried everything to make it work, but to no avail. Please call our hotline and ask to be transferred to our returns department.
