Needed for my 2002 Trailblazer EXT. Went in fairly easy and worked like a charm. The replacement from start to finish only took about 30-40 minutes.

Question: I have a 2004 Chevy trailblazer and the back hatch door won't open it keeps telling my rear access door is open and the gate ajar light is on too I pop it open manually but it won't stay that way?Denetra W. / Sep 23, 2021
Hello! It does sound like the microswitch in the actuator that indicates the hatch is closed has failed.

I'm not sure what the question is. Maybe you are saying the actuator is not unlocking? If so, replacing the actuator may fix that.

Question: We cannot lock the rear hatch on our 2006 Chevy Trailblazer LS. When we shut the rear hatch, you can hear the locking mechanism actuate but it don't lock the hatch or window.   Could this be the problem or is it an issue with the BCM?Bigbonedmutt / Aug 24, 2020
I had the same issue with my vehicle. You could hear the the latch actuate but it did not lock. The problem was fixed by replacing the mechanism. The design of the area where the latch is allow dirt and moisture to get into the mechanism and it gets stiff and/or rusted which makes the mechanism stick and not work. Replacing the mechanism is pretty easy if you have good mechanical skills, be carefull when removing the plastic cover on the back door. Don’t force anything . There are screws that need to come out before the cover pops off. Look up replacing the mechanism on YouTube.

That was the issue with mine too... You could hear it but didn't lock..I even tore the old one apart trying to fix it, but it was worn down.. Replacing it with this one fixed everything and was extremely easy to install.. once you get the bolts loosened on the original.
