Question: So do I need to get out of the truck to lock these in or will they lock in automatically when I turn the 4x4 on?Ben B. / Jan 31, 2021
Hi Ben,
There is no need to get out of the truck to lock these. This item is an auto-locking hub.

If the vacuum line is connected to the spindle and the pneumatic relay is functioning properly you will not need to get out and lock hub the vacuum will do it for you. On my 2011 f250 I had to replace a seal behind the spindle in order to build up vacuum to get mine working again.

Answered by Ken K. / Sun, May 02Question: What do lube auto locking hubs with?Brad M. / Oct 14, 2020
Hi Brad,
Are you referring to grease or lubricant? Some are using white lithium grease- also known as assembly lube. But, we highly recommend having it checked with a local mechanic because sometimes putting too much grease in there could easily cause problems with needed parts when locking/unlocking the hubs.
JG
You should use a grease specifically formulated for wheel bearings. A small amount to the splined shaft is all that’s needed and a light coating to the sliding parts of the hub. Here is a place where less is more, too much grease will not allow the hub to properly engage if extremely cold out. Make sure seal on hub assembly of the truck is good also. If you have water or dirt present when disassembled, it maybe the reason lock out went bad. Be sure to clean and inspect seals and replace interior seal if needed.
