Question: I have this type of Lugnut plus I also have one that looks like it has a key on it. However, they told me at the Ford dealership if I bought the Cross type of Lugnut remover, then that would help if the Lugnuts has swollen due to the heat in Texas, by any chance do you know what size of Cross lug remover I would buy?
I have a 2017 Ford escape SUV, and I accidentally heard them talking about the swelling of the Lugnuts, which was rather upsetting……Mary Kay H. / Apr 01, 2024

Hi B, thank you for reaching out. Normally, no. However, the steel lug nuts can swell if there is excess heat. If the wheel hub area, including the lug nuts, is hot to the touch in the absence of much braking, there may be an issue with the wheel bearings or the brake caliper.
