Part failed in 16 days.Map Sensor, 6 Cyl., 3.5L Engine
1.0/5
MAP sensor was installed to replace the oem which, at 130k miles 8 years, had not failed but was carbon covered and couldn’t be cleaned with MAP cleaner. 16 days after installing on a cold start, truck idled rough and displayed ‘service advancetrac’ and coded P0106 MAP sensor. Disconnecting/reconnecting battery cleared code and truck ran well. Took it to Ford who advised MAP sensor required replacement.

Question: My radiator kicks in even though my truck is not running hot could it be the map sensor?Ronnie Burwell / Apr 30, 2021
Hi Ronnie, I'm glad to help you out. I think what you're referring to is the radiator fan. But that will not be your MAP sensor. The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor reads the amount of air pressure inside the intake manifold, either directly or using a vacuum hose. Then, it translates this pressure into a voltage signal that the sensor feeds to the power control module (PCM). We suggest having a mechanic take a look at the vehicle to pinpoint exactly what's concerning the radiator fan to act like that. I hope this helps.

I wouldn't believe so. All 3 maps sensors work together for air, boost and fuel. Not a mechanic you might call Ford and ask them.

Question: Where does the map sensor go?Angel G. / Oct 15, 2024
Hi Angel, I am pleased to assist you. The MAP sensor typically goes on or near the intake manifold. This is because it measures the manifold absolute pressure, which is a key factor in determining the fuel to inject into the engine. Consult your vehicle's service manual or seek professional assistance. If your vehicle information matches this product, you can use the link below to order while the part is in stock. Your order will come with a 30-day post-purchase price match guarantee. I hope this helps and enjoy shopping!
