When i tried to install the new part it cracked exactly the way the old one had done. Thank goodness the air flow sensor part did not break and I am able to still use it. It appears that the plastic used in the new one is as brittle as the old BMW part was.
My experience with the BMW car has been that the German plastic used to build the car is terrible.
