Hi Charles, I'm glad to assist you. The purge valve controls the amount of fuel vapor that is purged from the charcoal canister. Air will be allowed to enter the engine in a quantity that is not predicted by your car's computer. It will change the car's air-to-fuel ratio and can cause rough idling, and difficulty starting.
