Hi Teresa, Upon checking, the submodel and engine size are important to determine the correct fitment for this part. Please follow the guidelines for the accuracy of fitment. Please enter your vehicle’s year, make, model, sub-model, and engine type, and type the part's name on the search box. Once your application is selected, you’ll see a “Guaranteed to Fit” badge if the part will fit, and we recommend that you also double-check Your Vehicle Fit Details as well as the Vehicle Fitment Information table on the product page.

Question: The transmission I just got has a one-prong hole in the speed sensor my wire on the truck is a two-pronger is that interchangeable should I change the wire or should I change the speed sensor is it compatible with that hole in the back of the trans?Robert U. / May 08, 2021
Hi Robert, I'm glad to help you out. If you are doing a straight replacement of transmission, the prongs should match the original part. However, it looks like the transmission is from a different model. I suggest that you consult a certified mechanic for proper recommendations. Question: Does it have to be installed any certain way ?Robert R. / Mar 03, 2021
Hi Robert, This part requires a specific way of installation. We recommend referring to a good repair manual for step by step instructions. It may require basic automotive knowledge for proper installation, and professional installation is always recommended. You can find more information here: https://www.carparts.com/blog/why-you-should-always-consult-a-repair-manual/

Hey Robert, I tried installing this part and ended up doing so by about 1 degree of rotation off. The speedometer worked but with a nasty whirring sound coming from the speedometer gear making contact with the metal pickup on the sensor. I had to re-position the sensor and when I tried to remove it (the seal makes for a very snug fit), the metal on the top of this sensor broke. I had to buy another sensor and re-install correctly. What I would suggest is take a sharpie and mark a line on the transmission and part with the old part installed. Then remove the old part and mark the new one and line them up. Be sure to press the sensor in flat like you are pressing a bearing/bushing and DO NOT push it in too far (max depth is the metal bracket being perfectly flat and not bent upwards). Tap it in straight lined up with your mark until the silver bracket is barely above the surface of the steel mounting hole. When installing by hand, pushing seemed to make the sensor want to twist so maybe try tapping with something (the alignment angle is probably the most important thing to consider). Hope this helps!

Yes the timing position of the sensor is set by the mounting tab bolt hole that has to line up with the threaded hole in the transmission tail shaft housing!
