I've purchased several other parts here and as with the others this is an exact replacement. I just switched out the light assembly, put it on the new taillight cover, and all is good again!

I bought this trying model to save a few dollars but because of the unit’s new and better light holder style, it did not fit my current bulb and it’s holder. No problem though, they took it back and I reordered the taillight WITH the bulb and bulb holder, and it fit perfectly and renains perfect.

Yes, you need to have those changed. I highly recommend having the vehicle diagnosed by a certified auto electrician or mechanic to determine what caused the bad connection and what other parts need replacement.
