I bought these for my 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege, even though the listing says they do not fit.
Apparently, there are two differences between the MP3/MSP and non-MP3/MSP lights.
1) The MP3 and MSP have a slight pink tint to the lens.
2) The connector for the turn signal is wrong on the passenger side. The connector is a 5 pin - 4 pins along the bottom row, and 1 pin in the top. Upon initial install, the driver side turn signal worked, but not the passenger side.
After troubleshooting, I discovered that the top row connector pin as the lights came is on the left when facing the car from the rear, whereas the stock has the pin on the right for the passenger side. This was an easy fix - simply pull the wire out of the back of the connector, and push back into the correct spot.
After doing this, the turn signal functioned. I would comfortably say these fit ALL Protege sedans from this era, but you may have to play around with the connector a bit.
These look exactly the same as OEM to me. The tail lights just look ~20 years newer, now.
Giving 4 stars until I see how these hold up to sunlight etc over a season.
