Answered by Andrew B. / Thu, May 20That's for the speed/ anti lock brake (abs) sensor.
If yours is vintage like mine, only one side has a plug that goes to the control system.
They used to sell them with, and without sensors, but If memory serves, I believe I was told they all come with the sensors now.
