It sounds like further troubleshooting should be done. This may be an issue with the wiper motor switch stock. For my car, I guessed that it was the wiper motor because beforehand, the wipers would work sometimes and sometimes not. I looked under the cowl where the motor was and there was a ton of leaves, sticks and dirt. When I finally replaced the motor, it was easy, plenty of videos on youtube. There were buckets and buckets worth of dirt in there. I couldn't believe how much was there. I kept pulling out a lot of debris. Check wiring and grounds to the switch. In a previous car, I installed a used switch from a junkyard to see if it that would fix the issue with my turn signals. It turned out the switch was bad and replacing it fixed the issue.

Question: MOTOR RUNS WIPERS DO NOT MOVE AND THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE?Daniel R. S. / Feb 15, 2021
Hi Daniel, If upon turning the switch, you hear either a buzzing or a grinding noise coming from the wiper area but no movement of the windshield wipers, it is likely that there is a mechanical problem. It could be a motor straining to move a jammed wiper transmission or a locked motor gear. It is highly recommended that the wiper motor be replaced.

Daniel, If the noise is coming from outside the motor unit,, I think you should check the linkage attached to the motor & make sure the splines are seated and tight. If the noise is from within the motor then you should replace the motor unit.

I would agree. 1st check for debris that may clog the wiper motor area. If that is not the problem I would suggest it is the motor. Also make sure the SWITCH that controls the wipers and fuse are in working condition

Question: I have a 2003 cord crown Victoria and have a windshield wiper motor issue,I replaced the motor and multi function controller, fuses are good getting power but nothing from the multi function switch, what could be the issue?Chuey S. / Jun 13, 2020
Hello! Perhaps the switch is bad? I would check power going to the switch, then make sure it is sending power when activated. If it's not the switch, there must be a break in the wiring somewhere.

Check under the plastic cover on the new wiper motor... there is a copper ground (spring metal) on the circuit board that will touch the wiper housing when you reassemble the plastic cover. Make sure that it is making a good ground (contact) as the motor will not function at all otherwise.
