FedEx drop the ballAbs Speed Sensor Sold Individually
4.0/5
It's not carports fault for the item being returned its FedExs fault for not delivering the part. Carpart was fast and reliable on getting the part sent it was FedEx that dropped the ball, maybe you should try another shipper.

Question: I have a 1992 XLT F250 4x4 8 cyl truck that had the speedometer, odometer, dome light, door chime, radio display go out and ABS light on all at the same time. Along with that the transmission isn't shifting correctly. I got a "ABS speed sensor" and replaced the sensor I found on the rear axle. It only solved the ABS light. Is this transmission output vehicle sensor the same as the ABS sensor? They look similar?P K. / Oct 28, 2020
Hi P Kelley,
The ABS sensor is different from the Transmission speed sensor. ABS speed sensor is for the Anti-Locking brakes while the Transmission speed sensor is for shifting gears.

Question: I have a 1991 F 250 4x4 auto that now has a hard shift from 2nd to 3rd gears mostly and started slipping and lost the speedometer all at once would a out put sensor correct this problem?Smitty / Dec 31, 2022
Hi Smitty,
A hard shift from 2nd to 3rd gear and slipping in the transmission can be caused by a number of issues, and an output sensor may or may not be the root cause. A slipping transmission could be the result of worn or damaged clutches, bands, gears or other internal components. A hard shift could also be caused by low fluid levels, a clogged filter, or problems with the valve body.
It is also possible that the loss of the speedometer and the transmission issues are related. On some vehicles, the speedometer is driven by the output speed sensor, so a failure of the sensor could cause both the hard shift and the loss of the speedometer.
To determine the cause of the issue, a diagnostic scan of the vehicle's computer system, along with a visual inspection of the transmission and its components, is recommended. A qualified mechanic or transmission specialist will be able to diagnose the issue and determine if an output sensor is the cause, and if so, replace it as needed. If the cause is not the output sensor, then other repairs may be necessary to resolve the issue.

I had the same problem with my ranger and the sensor corrected the problem. It's a good place to start although I am in no way ASE certified.

Answered by Mark P. / Sat, Jan 07The speedo controls the shifting. The sensor is most likely the problem.
