Question: there is a M52 and M56 which one is the correct one? part number 13882N i think is the M52, please advise.2005 BMW 325ci alternator / May 21, 2025
Hi Stanley, thank you for reaching out. The 2005 BMW 325Ci (E46) with a 2.5L engine could have either the M54B25 (standard gasoline engine) or the M56B25 (SULEV version for emissions-regulated markets like California). The key difference in the alternator is that the M56 SULEV engine requires a Bosch AL0703N (120A with a cooling duct), while the M54 typically uses a different alternator without a duct. The part number 13882N you mentioned is likely for an older M52 engine and is not correct for your 2005 model. To confirm which engine you have, check your VIN or look for SULEV badging under the hood—if it's an M56, you need AL0703N; if it's an M54, you’ll need a standard alternator without the cooling duct. If you have the M56 (SULEV), click the link below to continue ordering before the sale ends.
