Question: How to remove a ball joint on a Lincoln LS 2002?Joseph / Apr 17, 2023
Hi Joseph, I'm glad to assist you. Raise and support the vehicle on jack stands, remove the wheel and tire assembly, remove the brake caliper and rotor from the steering knuckle, and support it out of the way with a wire hanger. Remove the axle nut and remove the axle shaft from the steering knuckle by pulling it outward. Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the lower control arm. Remove the lower ball joint nut and separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator tool. Remove the bolts securing the lower control arm to the frame and remove the control arm. To install the new ball joint, reverse the above steps. It is important to torque all bolts to manufacturer specifications and have the vehicle aligned by a qualified mechanic after completing the repair. I hope this helps, and if you're interested in these ball joints, you can click on the link below for direct ordering to take advantage of our ongoing discount and limited stocks.
