Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Initial Preparations

  • Turn off your engine and engage the parking brake. Pull on the hood release handle and open the hood.

Step 2: Removing the Front Bumper

  • To change the lower cover valance, start by removing the front bumper. If desired, for easier access, remove the metal brackets from the front bumper (optional but recommended).

Step 3: Separating the Valance

  • Separate the valance from the front bumper. Observe the 15 screws located on the lower cover valance.

Step 4: Removing Valance Screws

  • Use a ratchet and a 10mm socket to remove all 15 screws securing the lower cover valance. Spray penetrating oil on the screws to aid in loosening, especially if rusted.

Step 5: Removing License Plate Holder

  • Use needle-nose pliers to compress the clips securing the license plate holder, then remove the license plate holder.

Step 6: Detaching Lower Cover Valance

  • Similarly, release the two clips holding the lower cover valance on the front bumper.

Step 7: Preparing the New Valance

  • Take the new lower cover valance then replace the retaining clips onto the new valance.

Step 8: Reattaching Valance to Bumper

  • Reattach the front bumper onto the lower cover valance. Secure the clips to hold the valance in place.

Step 9: Reinstalling License Plate Holder

  • Reinstall the license plate holder onto the valance.

Step 10: Screwing Valance and Bumper Together

  • Screw back in the 15 screws that connect the front bumper to the lower cover valance. Ensure each screw is properly tightened.

Step 11: Reinstalling Front Bumper

  • With the lower cover valance properly secured, proceed to reinstall the front bumper.

Important Reminders

For easier access to the screws, you can remove the metal brackets from the front bumper.

Don’t hesitate to spray some penetrating oil on these screws as they are typically locked in place by rust.
