Derek, there are definitely 2 parts that I know of, one being the blower motor and the other the resistor. I am not sure what the pigtail is, unless that is the wiring hook up. The resistor will simply turn the blower motor off and on, otherwise it just keeps running unless you pull the fuse, which I used to do. The resistor has pricing ALL OVER THE PLACE, from $30 to $240. I purchased a $30 resistor and it never worked. At least with a mechanic you know it is on him/her to make sure it works. The blower motor may still work. It may just be the resistor is bad. Are you sure the motor is dead? You may save a few $100 if it doesn't need to be replaced. Also, it is not too hard to pull the panels out of the Saab to get to these parts. I have done it several times. The first is time consuming, about 1-2 hours, but after that it is pretty simple. That may also save on labor and videos are online. But, it sounds like you already took it to the mechanic
