Bumper reinforcement replacement due to corrosion.Front Bumper Reinforcement, Steel

Reinforcement came with the chassis tipa, which I didn’t need because the originals were in perfect shape; besides, those are welded to the chassis, so don’t really see the point unless they have deformed by a frontal crash. In my case I was changing the reinforcement due to corrosion. So, unscrewed the 8 bolts (4 per side) to separate the bumper from the tips, and had to stretch the reinforcement about an 1/8 of an inch to match the holes to the bolts from the original tips. Could have been that the very cold weather during transportation made the steel contract. Anyway, with the curvature facing the floor (like a rocker) I placed my feet, one on each end and put my weigh on it (190 lbs) bouncing in place a little, just to extend it a bit. Once you make the holes match with the bolts it squares perfectly in place as you tighten them. Good replacement. Don’t forget to place the impact absorber on it again before reassembling (the one that looks like an empty reservoir, in case you were wondering what it was).
