This didn't look like the picture and didn't fit into the housing for my Prius 4. I was pretty disappointed and now I'm not able to find one that fits.

The filter, according to Toyota's manual, is mandatory for good performance from the environmental air conditioning system as all the air being pushed through the system is filtered. This keeps dirt and dust from accumulating within the system; thus providing a totally cleaner environment within the automobile.
