Installation took literally seconds and fit perfectly. Operation is smooth, but not quite as smooth as the original Audi part. This saved me $$ vs going to the dealer.

the hood rises again!Driver And Passenger Side Hood Lift Support, Sold Individually

my 2007 Audi S4's hood strut was dead one day - just dead, no gradual failure. it was super easy to pop off the old one with a little flathead screwdriver and snap this one on. the fit is just right, including the angle of the ball joints, and it'll probably fit any B6-B7 A4, S4, or RS4. it is labeled as Stabilus, made in Germany. installation is easy if you withdraw the replacement's clips first, plus you'll see how they loosen. have a friend hold the hood up, as it would be kind of tricky with just a piece of wood or something. i wiped off the ball joints and gave them a dab of silicone grease before reassembly. lifting the hood is gloriously smooth and easy. however, it took a half-dozen cycles for to closing to be totally smooth and hiccup-free; i wiped a bit of the strut's lubricant around to help it out. now it's all good, super smooth! it takes a bit of pressure to start closing the hood (this is good, it protects my noggin), but it will still latch closed if dropped from about 6".
