My 1986 Toyota Pick up is going strong at 300,000 miles but the dash showed every mile. The new dash cap was just the ticket. After all, where would you find a new dash at a fair price? Anyway, the cap fit very nicely. I first removed any loose pieces of the old dash or any raised edges caused by the huge cracks that the original dash had developed. Next the old dash was sanded around its perimeter so the silicone would grab. The new cap got sanded in the same fashion on the bottom side. They both were cleaned with rubbing alcohol & glued in place with the silicone provided. I held the cap in place with masking tape & 4 rolls of toilet paper wedged against the wind shield. It dried over night & presto!! A new dash!!
My only complaint is that the cut outs around the three vents could have been done neater. They look like they were done freehand with a Dremel. But once the cap is glued in, It's not so noticeable. Another pickey point is that I wish the left end had been made 1/16" longer so the cap would slip under the intrument panel thus hiding the end of the cap. Mine fit under on the front edge & half way toward the windshield. Then there is a slight (.025" more or less) gap. I think it is a great product & I'm happy to be able to get one to fit my truck. I hope my comments will get back to the makers so they can refine it a little. Thanks!!
