Hi Shelly, I'm glad to help you out. One way to tell is to look for a pin-striped heating grid on the back of the glass with a small wire connected to it. It looks like fine lines, shaped like a maze. The mirror is paintable (ready to be painted). We do not do or offer painted mirrors. You may reach out to your local autobody parts shop to have the part painted so they can match the color shade of the paint. I hope this helps.
