Question: Can a bad vapor canister purge solenoid make the engine light come on and when the weather warms up all lights will go off.?Bobby D. / Mar 05, 2023 / Chevrolet MalibuVapor Canister Purge Solenoid
Hi Bobby, I'm glad to assist you. Yes. A bad vapor canister purge solenoid can make the engine light come on. The vapor canister purge solenoid is a critical component of a vehicle's evaporative emissions control system. It is to capture and store fuel vapors that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere and then release them back into the engine to be burned. If the vapor canister purge solenoid fails, it can cause a variety of issues with the vehicle's emissions system. It can include triggering the check engine light to come on, as the car's onboard diagnostic system detects a problem with the emissions system. Depending on the severity of the issue, the check engine light may stay on indefinitely or intermittently. Please provide a diagnostic code so we can confirm the problem 100%.

No, when the valve goes out the check engine light stays on regardless to the weather.
