Question: Since i installed this mirror, my exterior temperature gauge has not worked.  Are these issues related? It wasn’t too difficult. Removing it from the old mirror without damaging it was the tricky part. After that just need to make an small hole in the plastic underneath the new mirror so it sticks out to sense the exterior temperature and make sure you connect the wires on the right pins as in the original mirror (I would recommend taking a picture before you disconnect it from the original mirror). The actual power for the mirror connects easily since it’s the same plug/connector. Hope that helps!

On my F-150 the temperature sensor is indeed located underneath the mirror on the passenger side. When I replaced the mirror not even the HVAC will work on the vehicle. I had to get creative and remove the sensor from the old mirror and install it on the new one myself because the factory mirror with the sensor on it built in cost a fortune. After I was done it worked just fine. Hope that helps!

I just got mine today and it works perfect. Took 30 mins to install. Got to Boostautoparts and they have the wire and sensor. Simple to install everything was right on the money

I replaced my mirror and had similar issues. Took it to dealer and they noticed new mirror without the external temperature sensor and that does cause the problem!

The external temp sensor is located on the frame behind the bumper on the driver side. Replacing this mirror should not affect the temp sensor.

If you have the outside/ambient temperature sensor in the mirror that reads on your display this one does NOT have it. You can look on the underside of your existing mirror and you will see the molded plastic has a cutout. My glass was broken but the mirror worked and I ended up replacing the glass (reflective plastic) for less than $10.

There are 3 different prongs to connect mirrors depending on options. Base mirror (no heater or power closure) 8 prong plug. Compare your model to mirror
