Hi,
Laminated glass in vehicles is basically a glass sandwich—two pieces of glass held together by a middle layer of polyvinyl. This polyvinyl interlayer is what makes it sturdy to hold the glass together. Even after the glass has broken, it stays in place because of the interlayer. The plastic interlayer can bend and stretch, making it difficult to break or shatter the glass easily. This prevents much injury on the person sitting on the driver and passenger side of the vehicle.
