I bought this for my 2012 RAM 1500 and it does require removing the transfer case sensor wire and reinserting it into an empty slot of the new units wiring harness plug. For my application, the empty slot was at the same location. It involves inserting a pin at the inside of the units plug adjacent to the spade end of the wire and pushing it in. This will release the metal tab that locks the wire into the plug.

wow, i should have asked before i purchased! save the money! yes, if you have the correct transfer case you just pop the pins out of the old and in to the new. if you have any skill it will take about 20 minutes. if you are like me, in may take an hour.

You may be able to go to a junkyard and cut the truck side harness that you need to repair what you have. Make sure that you make the spices with water proof connections.

Hi Amy, We recommend referring to a good repair manual for necessary parts needed and step by step installation instructions. It may require basic automotive knowledge for proper installation and professional installation is always recommended.
