Hi George, I'm glad to help you out. This is the actual rocker panel. Before you replace a rocker panel with a new full (or slip-on panel), you must cut away and remove the old, rusted panel. When you remove the old rusted metal, it is important to sand several inches beyond the rusted edges using an angle grinder or similar tool. It is advisable to weld for attachment.
