Hi Mike, I'm pleased to assist you. A failing vapor canister purge solenoid will create a vacuum leak that can affect the engine idle speed and quality. A vacuum leak can also be caused by a broken or damaged purge solenoid or any of the hoses attached to it. In particular, the canister purge valve is an emissions control component that allows the engine intake vacuum to take the exact amount of fuel vapors from the EVA canister into the engine intake manifold.
