Replace the compressor and condenser on my 2003 Cadillac CTS. After determining amount of oil the system held and allowing for any residual in the remaining system I added the correct amount to the compressor before the install. Fired up and charged with 134A. Ran for half hour and things look very good.

Hi Stan, thank you for reaching out. Compressor oil is a necessary component in any air conditioning system that uses a compressor in its compression system. There are three main purposes of the oil. They are used for lubrication, removal of heat, and for sealing. You'll have to check your owner's manual on how and how much to add oil as it varies per vehicle.
