Both sensors operate the same way, but the cam position sensor reads the rotation and timing of the camshaft, while the crank position sensor reads engine crankshaft rotation and position.

Hi,
The camshaft position sensor is on the upper part of the engine, while the crankshaft position sensor is below and near the crankshaft. Please refer to a vehicle-specific repair manual for more information.
