A new PASSkey© type key is required, and is not included with this lock cylinder. It may be obtained at any automotive locksmith or GM vehicle dealership. Hi Burdette, I'm pleased to assist you. This ignition lock cylinder has a built-in resistor that bypasses the VATS system. This resistor is matched to the resistor in the VATS key, so when the key is inserted into the ignition, the two resistors create a complete circuit and allow the 1993 Buick Riviera to start.
