I'm definitely giving this product 5 stars. I've been dealing with this engine light regarding the catalytic converter for about 2 years. Every mechanic or auto shop were giving me estimates in the thousands. I took it upon myself to do the research on how it's done & it sure paid off. I purchased this product from Car Parts, the shipping was quick & the product was compatible just as they said. I immediately made time to install the replacement & can guarantee that it's been great ever since. I'm grateful for car parts as well as the manufacturer for making this item affordable as well compatible. I can say that this situation has been an interesting experience that has me convinced that I can get any mechanical issues resolved without the extra expenses that mechanics tend to overwhelm us with. As long as Car Parts continues to provide affordable pricing for products that suit my mechanical situations I will continue doing my own without the excessive financial strain. Thank You Car Parts!

Hi Daniel,
Yes, this fits the 2000 Subaru Outback non-turbo models with California emissions.

It fit my 2000 outback and they’re the same car. It took some finessing to get it in though so undo the headers and replace those gaskets while you’re at it

Hi Juliette, I'm pleased to assist you. That depends. If the existing sensors are still good, you can reuse them. though it would be best to replace the sensors with new ones. You can ask your mechanic and go with what he advises. Click on the link below to place an order for this converter at 18% less than the usual price today, while supplies last. I hope this is helpful. Enjoy your CarParts.com online shopping experience!

Not necessarily, but if you replace one you should both. If your symptom is that the check engine light is on and it throws a cat code but the cat is not plugged,I start with new O2 sensors (they’re cheaper). If the code persists then you need to replace the cat. If the symptom is a plugged cat obviously it needs to be replaced; and in that case you can try the old sensors. If it still throws a code you need to replace the sensors. The reason you should replace both is that their efficiency degrades with use, and so the calibration will be off between a new and an old one. They are detecting the amount of O2 before and after the exhaust goes through the cat, and that is how they determine if the cat is working properly or not. And that is why a bad sensor can give you a cat code when the cat is OK.

Answered by Divine A. / Tue, Dec 13Question: Is this the actual catalytic converter or just the casing? Hi Angelina, I'm glad to help you out. This item is the catalytic converter assembly for models with Federal emission design. To order this item, click the link below: https://www.carparts.com/catalytic-converter/evan-fischer/reps960301?can=CPAP3648
I hope this helps. Happy shopping.

This is the actual catalytic converter (AKA Cat or Cats). don't use any shop trying to charge 3k. If you bring the shop this piece it shouldn't be more the 200$ to put it on. Unbolt/cut the old --> revolt the new one. (since exhaust is super hot it tends to be easy to get to) Most catalytic converters are designed with built in shields (which is why it looks like just a covering). Some vehicles require 2 Cats or special fittings to connect them. Hope this helps.

Answered by Anonymous S. / Wed, Apr 21This is the actual catalytic converter assembly. Sometimes the assembly has to be bent slightly to match the flange junctions at both ends (not uncommon even if you pay much more), so it's best to take this part to a shop that has a pipe bender in case it's needed.

Hi Donald,
This part is guaranteed to fit the 2005 Subaru Impreza RS 4 Cyl 2.5L. Yes, I have confirmed this has 3 sensor ports. Please check the Vehicle Emission Control Information sticker usually found underneath the hood of the car to make sure the catalytic converter matches the car's Emission label specifications.

My 2002 Legacy 2.5 liter only has 2 sensors also so the 3rd one got plugged. This converter did not fit my car perfectly. Had to have a custom exaust shop cut it to keep from rubbing a hole in my transmission oil pan.Good luck.

Answered by Richard S. / Fri, Mar 12Correct. It comes with plugs to plug the sensor ports not used in your cars system.

Hello!
Having an extra port will cause an exhaust leak, which can lead to a variety of problems. Does this converter look more like the one on your vehicle?

It is very easy, first you unplug the wiring connection, second remove the bolt that's holding the bracket to the frame, and third remove the bolts from both ends of the catalytic converter and the assembly will come out with no problem, then you can screw the O2 sensors out without damaging the threads, it is a simple job
