I'm definitely giving this product 5 stars. I've been dealing with this engine light regarding the catalytic converter for about 2 years. Every mechanic or auto shop were giving me estimates in the thousands. I took it upon myself to do the research on how it's done & it sure paid off. I purchased this product from Car Parts, the shipping was quick & the product was compatible just as they said. I immediately made time to install the replacement & can guarantee that it's been great ever since. I'm grateful for car parts as well as the manufacturer for making this item affordable as well compatible. I can say that this situation has been an interesting experience that has me convinced that I can get any mechanical issues resolved without the extra expenses that mechanics tend to overwhelm us with. As long as Car Parts continues to provide affordable pricing for products that suit my mechanical situations I will continue doing my own without the excessive financial strain. Thank You Car Parts!

It fit right into place on mine BUT. I did need to elongate the holes in the end bracket to attach it to the exhaust header. The ones on this were far to narrow. But some time with a rasp fixed that easily. It was a great fit besides that. Might want to get an o2 sensor at the same time if you buys this. The old ones tend to weld themselves in place after a decade or so. They are cheep. Just do it haha.

Answered by Thomas B. / Sun, Aug 29The only cut I made was at the muffler. I used my existing muffler. Other than that, it fits perfectly.

Answered by Nestor A. / Sun, Aug 29Question: 2005 Toyota Matrix XR FWD. Is this part one piece or two? If it's one piece, why is a clamp needed? Do I need to purchase a upstream or downstream O2 sensor for this Cat?Johnny S. / Jul 30, 2022 / 2003 Toyota CorollaCenter Catalytic Converter, 4 Cyl., 1.8L, 1Zz-Fe Engine, Fwd, Federal Epa Standard, 46-State Legal (Cannot Ship To Ca, Co, Ny Or Me)
Hi Johnny, I'm pleased to assist you. Bryan and David gave very informative answers to your questions. You will need 1 downstream oxygen sensor for this part. I had the one piece unit installed by my mechanic. This item cost about 700 dollars LESS than a similar unit I had had installed on a 2003 Pontiac Vibe a year earlier (same car as the Matrix, mechanically).
I think the clamp likely attaches the rear of this unit to the rear part of the exhaust including the muffler.
No new O2 sensors where required.
A year and 15 or so thousand miles later I am happy as could be.
The 46 state endorsement/legality is what made this item special for me. A pro can not/will not install a non approved exhaust part like this, per federal and state laws.

Answered by david C. / Sat, Jul 30This is a one piece item, that uses the existing downpipe and muffler. Clamps are to replace the old ones that clamp this cat and resonator system to your muffler. Also comes with 2 gaskets. This will fit your current O2 sensor but it you don't have one you will need a downstream sensor. On a 04 corolla installation took me roughly 1.30 - 2 from start to finish. This is to replace your cat/ resonator as a bolt on option. Othwise if your cats bad a shop would need to cut and weld a universal cat to replace your bad one. Assuming that is the issue. Idk

So I have a 2007 Corolla and it's been having that engine light due to the downstream O2 sensor it still has an engine light but sounds great with this exhaust kit. The sensor issue has been very annoying I replaced it and even try to trick it with a bolt but not hun works. So for mine yes it did have a engine light
MT
Answered by Matthew T. / Sat, Mar 05You have 2 oxygen sensors, one near the engine (this one is on the exhaust by the fire wall—you don’t remove it to replace this item) and then one that goes after
the catalytic converter (big round part). This should bolt up easy to the existing exhaust near the motor and to the back exhaust pipe.

Answered by Travis L. / Thu, Feb 24If it’s in the pipe it’s downstream if it’s in the converter attached to the engine block it’s upstream
