The open slots throughout the grill mount to plastic tabs located on the stock bumper. You will need no tools, simply make sure they are all in and pressure holds it there. However I would recommend removing the bumper and inserting two screws on the left and right hand side tabs so the grill is secured. I had mine come off 3 times but only at 90+mph.

It snaps into place but you have to make sure its all snapped in or it will come undone

This doesn't need any clips to hold it in, the "clips" are molded in the bumper and should clip in. If the bumper clips are broken, you might need to replace the bumper.

The one I lost came off because we drove over a parking bumper. Driving forward onto the bump didn’t really have much effect but when we backed up it snagged and ripped part of it loose. Driving on the highway I guess it caught the air and flew the rest of the way off. So watch out for those types of things. The other possibility is the clips you used are slightly too small and not sealing snuggly enough. It should take a little force to push the pin in and lock the clip. If they just snap in with one push of one finger then those will come off about as easily.
