Hi Justin, I'm glad to assist you. Yes, it is pre-filled with a minimum amount of oil. But, manufacturers recommend that you drain the "shipping oil" and refill with "proper oil" ahead of installation. The other purpose of the added oil is to protect the compressor during its stay on the dealer's shelves (prevent rust while stocked for some period), retailers' stores, and in the course of transport.
