Hi Cedrick, I'm glad to assist you. Yes, it is pre-filled with a certain amount of oil. But manufacturers recommend that you drain the "shipping oil" and refill with the "proper PAG oil" amount upon installation. The other purpose of the added oil is to protect the compressor during its stay on the dealer's shelves, retailers' stores, and in the course of transport. Hi Stephen, I'm glad to assist you. Draining the pre-filled oil is generally not necessary. Not unless you need to change the PAG oil type or just adjust the oil level to a certain amount. Check a vehicle-specific a/c service repair manual before charging the a/c compressor with the correct freon to be used.
