Question: Honda OEM specs a 130 amp alternator. Why are you suggesting a 110 amp? The 2009 Accord V6 was designed for a 130-amp Denso with a very specific regulator curve and ELD control logic. The 110-amp Carquest unit (and most cheap 110-amp remans) simply cannot supply enough current at idle/low RPM for everything the V6 wants (A/C clutch, radiator fans, fuel pump, ECM, high-beam headlights, etc.). When it gets overloaded at idle, the regulator goes into a “hunting” or oscillating mode → voltage bounces all over the place → lights pulse. As soon as you rev it higher, the alternator finally spins fast enough to keep up, so the regulator stabilizes and the pulsing stops. This is an extremely common story with 2008–2012 Accord V6, Pilot, Odyssey, Ridgeline owners who install the wrong/cheap 110-amp alternator.Magnus / Nov 23, 2025
