Question: When I put my 1993 jeep wrangler in reverse the alternator drops to 10 amps. When I shift to 1st gear it goes back to 14 amps. Is the alternator weak. Or a bad reverse switch. 2.5 engine, with 5 speed trans. Thanks ?Tony p. / Dec 29, 2020
Hi Tony, There are several reasons that may cause that to happen like wrong amperage output for the alternator, battery, or voltage regulator. We highly recommend having the vehicle diagnosed by a certified mechanic to determine what part needs replacement.
