No arrow on this catalytic converter, so, it works in either direction. Comes with 2 gaskets (both flat, both the same barely-enough thickness). One gasket is smaller + ring-shaped (and fits in groove mentioned below), the other gasket is flange-shaped (with the 2 bolt holes). You must use your judgement..better/extra gaskets may be needed.
The front/rear (2) flanges of the cat are almost identical except one has a purely flat surface, the other flange/end has the same flat surface minus a recessed donut/gasket groove to accept/hold the ring-shaped gasket. I used BOTH provided gaskets on ONE flange (facing forward to mate with the front exhaust pipe flange, ........and for the rear, I bought a different/better gasket (ring-shaped not flange-shaped0;
so on my install the rear flanges almost touch (can bend) as you tighten 2 bolts on both ends....(you must provide, 10mm 1.25 pitch = toyota standard) and washers/nuts.
