Question: I have a 1978 Chevy Malibu with a non-original 350" 4 bolt main, Edelbrock 600 cfm 4 barrel, Edelbrock Alum. hi-rise intake manifold, mild camshaft, headers and a pair of 3" twin chamber 40 series Flowmaster mufflers that dump right infront of the rear axles. Failed DEQ clean air test due to high HC (296/277) and high CO2 (3.7438/2.8677) and I have no Cats. Would two of your Cats resolve my issues and help me to pass inspection?Kelly B. / Jan 27, 2022
Hello! Installing catalytic converters will definitely lower your HC and CO2 levels, but I don't know what the visual requirements, if any, are for the rest of the components in your vehicle.
