Answered by Grace G. / Tue, Mar 15No. Put the back on first.That way the spring will go straight in. Then jack the front, with the ball joint, up to the knuckle. Take your time. I didn't use a chain on the spring. They say to keep the spring from slipping. I did not have any problems. Do not forget to put spacer on top and bottom of spring. Good luck.
