2003 Passat- you get what you pay forFront Engine Splash Shield, Engine Under Cover, Lower Section, 4 Cyl., 2.4L Engine
3.0/5
This isn't a bad product, but it isn't a good product exactly either. After hitting something and ruining my OE engine shield on my Passat I decided to purchase this product because of its cost and free shipping. I was surprised when the shield showed up in a box half its size. upon opening the box I discovered the shield was folded in half inside the box- the material is closer to the material of a fender liner than the original rigid OE shield. After allowing it to sit for a couple days to make sure it would straighten out I decided it should be ok. Having seen previous reviews noting that attachment hardware was not included I had all the fasteners ready to go. however, when I went to install the black clips for the pins in the fender liner area I ran into problems. the notches in the new shield were not cut properly. one was cut 90 degrees off from how it was should have been and one was cut too small for the retainer to fit in. I was able to get it fastened in with the one retainer missing. It took a little more wiggling to get lined up but it works. Bottom line for me is if you know what to expect it is acceptable if you think it will be like the OE shield you will be disappointed. It is a case of "you get what you pay for."
