It depends on the present condition of the base. If it is not damaged, then there is no need to change it. The new door handle should fit into the base perfectly.

Answered by Aldrin P. / Wed, Sep 01I did use it on a 2011 Hyundai Accent 2 door (hatch back). In my case this door handle needed quite a bit of filing to make it fit. Once filed it to fit - it's fine.
