My son was driving at freeway speeds when my a large chunk of shredded truck tire took out the front grille of my 1982 300td. This part is a good alternative to an expensive German made grille, and for all intents and purposes, looks exactly like the original and fits perfectly. It does say made in Taiwan in an out of the way place.
