Question: 02 impala--flasher sw-- how do you get it out?bob s. / Sep 10, 2020
Hi James,
We recommend referring to a trusted vehicle specific repair manual for step by step instructions. You can find more information here: https://www.carparts.com/blog/why-you-should-always-consult-a-repair-manual/
Still, it is best to have that consulted and installed by a professional mechanic on your trusted automotive shop or dealership.

The entire face of the dash has to come off in order to get to the harness. There are screws on the sides under the (2) fuse panels and under the steering wheel. Also the panel has push on Type fasteners. Be very careful pulling or prying the panel as mine was very fragile and cracked in a few places. Once the panel is loose disconnect the harness from the switch. There are snaps on the sides of the switch that holds it in place push those in and push the switch through the FRONT of the panel. Push the new switch in and reconnect it then push in the panel and replace screws.

Answered by Richard B. / Thu, Sep 10Bob - not sure if this will help or not, as I did this over a year ago. I did find a YouTube video on it, which showed the procedure. I remember using 2 small screwdrivers. First, use one to pry off the visible button. Next, insert the 2 screwdrivers into each side of the opening, because there are prongs that snap the unit into place. If done correctly, simultaneously, these prongs will release the switch, and you can pull it out. Unplug the old one, plug the new one in, and reinsert it into the opening on the dashboard. Hope this helps, but look it up on YouTube.

Answered by Bruce / Thu, Sep 10I used a method I found on YouTube, which involved breaking the button off the existing switch, using flat head screwdrivers to pop the clips off, then pulling it out with pliers. It worked for me, it's not proper, do it at your own risk. Found it with a youtube search.

Answered by Sarah B. / Mon, Sep 14Carefully use a small screwdriver and needle nose pliers to pop flasher out of dash. Works great. Had no problem in replacing flasher on my 02 Impala.
